Lately the Lord has been showing me basic truths in new ways, I would like to share a few of these truths with you.
Basic Truth: Beauty is only skin deep.
Now obviously we have all heard this before, but have we really captured the Biblical truth behind this statement? Peter 3:4-5 tells us:
"Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves"
The World tells us that we need to be beautiful. The world tells me that I need to want, pursue and create physical beauty so that I not only feel good about myself, but so that others will want to like me, be like me, and in essence worship me.
however,
God's Word tells us that beauty comes from the heart. Physical beauty sometimes encourages me to think proud, sinful thoughts and can even lead to trouble (Proverbs 6:23-26). True beauty comes from having a gentle and quiet spirit and pursuing a relationship with the One who created me-both my physical appearance and my inward being (Peter 3:4-5).
Praise God that we do not need to make an effort to please the world, it is in striving to please God alone where true fulfillment and blessing comes from.
May you feel encouraged and God be glorified,
Cristina, a lowly homemaker
